Avocet are releasing their debut EP during a night in their hometown of Glasgow, on May 23rd, at The Poetry Club!
Drawing inspiration from both the psychedelic folk scene alive in Britain during the 1960’s and 70’s, and free form blues, Herbie, Iona and Sam create their own compositions on harp, guitar, double bass and vocals. Their music has been compared to that of artists like like Nick Drake, Pentangle, and John Martyn.
Recently signed to Dutch/Scottish record label Mink Records, they travelled to the Netherlands to record their debut record at the Abbey Road Institute, Amsterdam.
Avocet have performed on BBC Scotland, and at an array of festivals and venues including Celtic Connection and Eden Festival. They were winners of the Danny Kyle Celtic Connections Award in 2017.
The trio released their debut single ‘Causeway’ on January 26th, 2018. The track received critical acclaim from platforms like Folk Radio U.K, and can be found in a number of Spotify playlists.
